DEPARTMENT HEADS

Station Manager: Travis Bockenstedt
    Travis Bockenstedt is a junior from Strawberry Point, Iowa. A communciation arts and communication studies major, Bockenstedt is the Wartburg Television Station Manager. He served as the news director for the 2006-07 academic year. Bockenstedt is also a member of Wartburg Student Senate.

News Director: Natalie Tendall
    Natalie Tendall is a junior from from DeWitt, Iowa majoring in electronic media and public relations. She was a production assistant last year for WTV8 and joins this year's team as the news director. Tendall is also a member of The Wartburg Choir
.

 

Sports Director: Abby "The Show" Showalter
    Abby Showalter is a senior memeber of the WTV8 staff. She is a public elations and electronic media communicationa arts major and is also working on a Spanish minor. She is involved with soccer, Ambassadors, Tower Agency, and the Society of Collegiate Journalists at Wartburg. Off campus, Showalterr serves as the Interim Communication Director at Waverly Light & Power.

Marketing Director: DeEtta Bohling
   DeEtta Bohling is a communication arts major from Greenfield, Iowa. She is also obtaining a minor in leadership. Bohling is also involved in Volunteer Action Center, Student Senate, Student Relations Committee and KWAR. She hopes to work in the public relations field in Iowa after graduation.

Co-Sports Director: Seth Drury
    Seth Drury comes from the big metropolis of Firth, Nebraska. As a communication arts electronic media and print media major and leadership minor, Drury would like to work for ESPN someday. He's active on the student senate, Entertainment ToKnight, and is the sports director for KWAR, as well.

Staff Development Coordinator: Kate Elliott
   Kate Elliott is a junior from Lamont, Iowa. Elliott served as volunteer coordinator during the 2006-07 academic year. A communication arts and communication studies major, Elliott is an on air personality when she's not on the Wartburg College campus at KKHQ, KCRR and KOEL FM. She would like to be a communication arts professor someday.

Webmaster: Tim Greenwald
    Tim Greenwald is senior at Wartburg College. He is a communication arts major, emphasizing in electonic media and public relations. His dream job after graduation would be to work somewhere in Alaska fixing computers. He currently works for the DJ service Ultimate Entertainment out of Cedar Falls. In his free time he enjoys working on webpages, listening to music, and playing his drums. Tim is also a current member of The Wartburg Choir, where he sings as a bass II.

News Staff

Michelle Caldwell
    Michelle Caldwell is a senior communications arts major from Washington, Iowa, home of the Demons! She rejoins the staff after interning in Denver, Colorado first semester through Wartburg West. Caldwell has been a part of the WTV8 staff since transferring to Wartburg her freshman year. She also works in the communication and marketing department, writing articles for the Wartburg Magazine.

David Jeannot
    David Jeannot is a senior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is his first year on the Wartburg Television staff. Jeannot is a communication arts electronic media and print media major, and is also a member of the Wartburg Track and Field team.
Maribel Lopez
    Maribel Lopez hails from the land of Adventureland Park in Altoona, Iowa. Lopez is a communication arts electronic media major, and is also working towards her Spanish major. After Wartburg, she would like to go on to graduate school and eventually work in the travel journalism industry.
Jackie Manternach
    Jackie Manternach is a junior communication arts electronic media major and is earning a minor in political science. During the Fall of 2007, she was a news intern at a CBS affiliate in London, England. She comes from Cascade, Iowa, home of the Cougars. After graduation, Manternack would like to be a freelance journalists producing documentaries.
Sarah Moon
    Sarah Moon is a junior from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is her first year on the WTV8 staff, and is the staff programmer. She is a communication arts major, emphasizing in print media and electronic media. Sarah is also a member of the Wartburg Cross Country and Wartburg Track team.
Steffani Tollefson
    Steffani is a junior from Cambridge, Minnesota. She is a communication arts major with an emphesis in electronic eedia and print media with a minor in Leadership. She would like to work for a tv station as an anchor as a reporter after graduation. Tollefson is currently interning at KCRG TV9 in Cedar Rapids.
Kallie Cooper
    Kallie Cooper lives 30 minutes down the road in Charles City, Iowa. A communications arts electronic media and public relations major, Kallie married in December 2007. She would like to be a news producer someday and is a member of the Wartburg Choir.
Justin Conner
    Justin Conner is a freshman communication arts major from Algona, Iowa. He is a production assistant on the staff, and is also involved in the sports department. Conner would like to work for ESPN someday as a sports reporter.
Nick Jellings
    Nick Jellings is a freshman from Fayette, Iowa. Jellings joined the staff as soon as he set foot on campus, and enjoys working behind the scenes for production. He is a communication arts electronic media major.
Alex Mougin
   Alex Mougin is a first-year student from Oxford, Iowa. A biology (pre-med) major, Mougin volunteered first semester and enjoys the news world. He is also plays the trumpet in the Wartburg Symphonic Band.
Ellen Kurt
    Ellen Kurt is a freshman from Dyersville, Iowa. A communication arts major, emphasizing in print media, Kurt is also getting a degree in journalism education. She is also member of Entertainment Toknight and the Wartburg Band.
SPORTS STAFF
Jason Meyer
    Jason Meyer hails from Bettendorf, home of the bulldogs. A sophomore communication arts electronic media and print media major, Meyer works on the sports team for WTV8. He would like to pursue a career in sports broadcasting upon graduation from Wartburg.
Nikki Newbrough
    Nikki Newrbrough comes from a little place known as Montour. A sophomore communication arts major, Newbrough is involved in both news and sports for the staff. In addition, Newbrougi shares time with the campus radio station, KWAR as the promotions director. She is also a member of the Wartburg Track and Cross Country team.
FACULTY ADVISOR
Dr. Jeff Stein
     Dr. Jeff Stein has been the WTV Faculty Adviser since 1999.  He holds B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. He is the R.J. McElroy Chair and Executive-in-Residence in Communication Arts at Wartburg College, teaching broadcasting and media law and ethics courses.
     Stein is the executive secretary of the Iowa Broadcast News Association as well as president of the Northwest Broadcast News Association. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, College Media Advisers, Radio-Television News Directors Association, Association for Practical and Professional Ethics and the Broadcast Education Association.
     He is also the administrator of the Archives of Iowa Broadcasting Collection, located in Waverly, and is also the author of “Covering Iowa Law and Courts: A Guide for Journalists,” published by the Iowa State Bar Association.
     Stein is an award-winning broadcaster who has worked for a number of Iowa stations, including KFJB-AM in Marshalltown and WSUI-AM in Iowa City. He currently serves as the political analyst for KWWL-TV in Waterloo.
